Our Impact

For more than three decades, EcoLogic worked alongside rural and Indigenous partners to support locally led conservation and restoration. While EcoLogic has now closed its operations, this work continues through the strength, leadership, and commitment of these partners and the people and places they represent.

Closing a Chapter: More Than 30 Years of Community-Led Conservation

After more than three decades of work alongside rural and Indigenous communities across Central America and Mexico, EcoLogic Development Fund has made the difficult decision to conclude operations.

Over the past several months, the Board and leadership team evaluated multiple options to sustain the organization. Despite these efforts, it became clear that continuing operations was no longer financially viable. The Board determined that an orderly wind-down is the most responsible path forward.

This outcome was largely driven by a decline in unrestricted funding, which underpinned operational continuity and program delivery, ultimately constraining our ability to cover core organizational costs.

This decision was not made lightly. It reflects a careful and deliberate process, guided by a commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship.

While this moment is difficult, we are proud of what EcoLogic has accomplished over more than three decades. Together with communities and partners, we helped restore forests, strengthen local governance, and support sustainable livelihoods across Central America and Mexico.
