EcoLogic Received Grant from Global Forest Watch to Fight Deforestation

EcoLogic was selected as one of 15 Small Grants Fund recipients from Global Forest Watch.

We are thrilled to announce that EcoLogic received the Small Grants Fund (SGF) from Global Forest Watch (GFW) to protect and restore the forests of Central America and Mexico and empower the rural and Indigenous communities that depend on them.

GFW provides openly accessible tools that use satellite data, advanced computer algorithms, and cloud computing power to access information about forest changes. The SGF offers grantees financial and technical support, enabling them to use GFW in their research, advocacy, and fieldwork.

Over 12 months, EcoLogic will use GFW to safeguard vital ecosystems, promote sustainable forestry practices, empower local communities to manage their natural resources and advocate for improved processes to protect forests and the communities that depend on them.

In particular, through our SGF project, we will train community organizations and community monitoring brigades to address direct threats on over 128,000 hectares of forests more effectively through deforestation and fire early warning systems.

This grant will support us in growing our impact, working towards a future where forests are preserved and protected.

"We are thrilled to have been awarded the Small Grants Fund, which will enable us to continue our important work," said EcoLogic's Executive Director, Barbara Vallarino. "EcoLogic has been at the forefront of the fight against deforestation in Central America and Mexico for 30 years. This grant will support us in growing our impact, working towards a future where forests are preserved and protected."

We are deeply grateful for this grant from Global Forest Watch. We look forward to working with our local partners to use the Small Grants Fund to make a real and lasting difference in the fight against deforestation.
