EcoLogic Development Fund Received Nearly $65K in Grants to Prevent Biodiversity Loss

EcoLogic has recently won three grants that will support its activities with rural communities of Central America and Mexico.

Mesoamerican Reef Fund Grant

The Board of Directors of the Mesoamerican Reef Fund (MAR Fund) approved a $50,000 grant to finance and support EcoLogic's activities designed to strengthen the climate resilience of rural communities of the Sarstún river basin, Guatemala.

MAR Fund is a private fund whose mission is to help organizations that actively work to conserve and protect the natural resources of the Mesoamerican Reef for the benefit of present and future generations. The fund finances sustainable development projects and conservation activities that address the negative impacts of climate change.

EcoLogic's project in Sarstún aims to restore and protect this highly biodiverse region while accelerating sustainable agriculture-based economic development and livelihood improvement of rural communities. Moreover, EcoLogic works closely with local partners and communities to prevent deforestation, land use change, fuel-wood extraction, and illegal logging.

Cell Signaling Technology Environmental Grant

EcoLogic received an $8,000 grant from Cell Signaling Technology (CST) to continue working with rural and indigenous people to foster healthy ecosystems, restore biodiversity, and promote resilient communities in Guatemala.

CST is the first life sciences company to join 1% for the Planet, committing to donate 1% of annual end-user product sales to support nonprofit organizations focused on the environment. As a valued grant recipient of CST, EcoLogic will be listed as a recipient of funding under the 1% for the Planet umbrella.

Clif Family Foundation

At the direction of the Clif Family Foundation Board, EcoLogic received a $6,000 grant to support different activities, including the protection and conservation of tropical forests and mangrove ecosystems through the active leadership and participation of grassroots community organizations. “Among the hundreds of proposals we received, your organization stood out as one that will offer social and environmental change,” commented Carrie Walle of the Clif Family Foundation.

EcoLogic is profoundly grateful and humbled by the support of these generous funders who make our work possible.
