Communications and Journalism Internship (Winter/Spring)
The intern will work with EcoLogic's Communications Officer to write articles for EcoLogic publications and our website (www.ecologic.org). This is an excellent opportunity for a marketing, journalism or media relations student, or just someone who is passionate about writing.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications and Journalism Intern will gather updated information from Spanish-speaking program staff; write articles for our monthly eNews, print newsletter, and for our website; compose in-depth project summaries and case study briefs; assist the Communications Officer with the design, production and dissemination of promotional materials for use at conferences and events; update information about EcoLogic on the website, donation portals and other sites; support communications activities at local fundraising events; support online outreach activities, including advertising and social media; and other miscellaneous communications tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in or completion of undergraduate degree program.
- Previous experience in marketing, journalism or outreach required.
- Proficiency in Spanish required.
- Adept with Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Publisher.
- Excellent writing and design skills.
- Organized, flexible, and self-motivated.
- Ability to collaborate with a diverse staff team.
- Familiarity with non-profit organizations a plus.
- Familiarity with web design a plus.

Communications Research Internship (Winter/Spring)
The intern will work with EcoLogic's Communications Officer to research environmental issues related to EcoLogic's activities and investigate opportunities for our constituents to take action and get involved.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Research Intern will conduct online research about environmental issues related to our work (water, forests, carbon, biodiversity, etc.); investigate green products that reduce our impact on the environment, including how they reduce one's impact, the science behind the product, and pricing; update a catalogue of green goods and services, and recommend priorities for EcoLogic to consider; explore potential sponsorships with businesses providing green products; potentially develop a webpage for EcoLogic's website that provides information and resources for our supporters on green living; and complete other miscellaneous communications tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in or completion of undergraduate degree program.
- Adept with Internet research.
- Knowledgeable or interested in environmental issues.
- Organized, flexible, and self-motivated.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable making phone calls.

Education Internship - Ambassador Kids (Winter/Spring)
The intern will work with EcoLogic's the Development team and Communications Officer on the Ambassador Kids (AK) Program, an education and fundraising program for elementary school students.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Education Intern will work with the Development and Communications teams to implement the AK Program in schools; liaise with teachers and school administrators who participate in the program; identify potential schools for participation in the program; prepare promotional and other materials for the AK Program; manage program assessments and contacts; monitor the Ambassador Kids website; and complete other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Public Relations Internship (Winter/Spring)
The intern will work with EcoLogic's Communications Officer to organize, promote, and run a series of events in the Boston area that engage the public and increase awareness of EcoLogic's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Public Relations Intern will prepare advertisements for distribution; assist in advertising events through print and electronic media; contact venues, speakers, and vendors to confirm participation in various events; organize promotional materials necessary for each event and prepare press packets as needed; participate in communications and outreach activities at local events; prepare materials for the EcoLogic website; and other miscellaneous communications tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in or completion of undergraduate degree program.
- Previous experience in public relations, event planning or outreach required.
- Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented.
- Must be flexible, responsible, and self-motivated.
- Should have excellent writing and design skills.

Institutional Fundraising and Strategic Management Internship
The intern will research prospective grant opportunities from institutional funders (foundations, governments/multilaterals, prizes, corporations), summarize major trends in philanthropy (e.g. adaptation and resilience to climate change; social entrepreneurship) advise on EcoLogic's application strategy to particular funders, and assist in the preparation of proposals and letters of inquiry. Duties includel developing a list of new funding sources and opportunities; revising the profiles of known funders available to EcoLogic's U.S. office and Guatemalan Regional Office in succinct funder summary sheets; researching trends and new practices in grant-making; and meeting regularly with the Development Team. The intern may also suggest ways of refining EcoLogic's process for bringing many initial prospects to the final few for proposal submission; help refine internal project design formats and systems; assist in the move to programs rather than individual projects; help refine EcoLogic's partnership model(s); connect grant proposal preparation with emerging needs of EcoLogic's communications and outreach efforts; and assist with other "higher level" strategic organizational needs.
Must be willing to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Office Assistant/Translation Coordinator
Volunteers with Spanish and English language skills can help EcoLogic by translating or editing and/or coordinating the translation of important project documents. Other responsibilities include conducting phone and library research; maintaining EcoLogic's files on environmental organizations; helping produce and distribute materials detailing EcoLogic's programming in Latin America; and helping with office administration, errands, and daily operations.
Must be willing to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Positions are unpaid. Students can receive academic credit in all positions.
